Reasons

From the recent order by the supreme court declining to vacate the stay on reservations

"You had waited for 57 years. Why can't you wait for one more year,"

Come on judges, the question is so very unnecessary ! Think from the viewpoint of the political parties. They are not aware as to whether they would be in power even the next day. Hence, they want to push ahead all that they can do (read filthy caste based vote-bank politics), whenever they are in power, so that in the event of an election, they are elected again. Simple isn't it ?

But, all said and done, I somehow think that it would take a lot of effort (read cunning) to push this reservation bill.

Congress doesn't want to implement OBC quota. It only wants the credit for that. It wants to pass all the magajmari to make this bill valid to the next government.

Its just like Manmohan Singh claiming credit for Economic reforms ignoring the political input from Narasimha Rao and the perseverance of Chidambaram/Jaswant/Sinha.

Yes. They want to push this bill so that in the event of an election, they can use that as a tool ;-)

    TTM:
Kubuntu rocks. www.kubuntu.org. Get the dvd version. That has quite a lot of packages. You can try to get vmware and install linux inside it.
